Planning templates Original Queensferry planning templates for every stage — organising tools, not ICE forms.
Who this is for: Candidates at any stage · Mentors
1 Get your bearings · 2 Settle your educational base · 3 Complete your IPD · 4 Build your evidence · 5 Write and submit · 6 Prepare for the review · 7 Your result Fifteen planning templates covering route planning through to reflecting on a result. They are Queensferry's own, and they are for organising your thinking rather than for submitting.
These are not ICE submission formats
Where ICE requires a particular form — the application form, the sponsor's statement of support, the Training Agreement forms, the CPD templates that accompany ICE's CPD guidance — download and use the current official version. A Queensferry template is never an accepted substitute, and nothing here reproduces an official form.
Route plan Before you start · One page recording where you actually stand, so that decisions are made against facts rather than assumptions. Evidence matrix Throughout your IPD · The record that makes a report writable years later — what you did, on which project, against which attribute areas. Project record Throughout your IPD · A fuller record of one project, for the one or two you will write about in depth. Gap analysis Before you plan an application · Identify the thin areas and turn each into an action someone can say yes to. CPD development action plan Every year · Objectives for the next twelve months, which is what ICE asks for. CPD personal development record Continuously · The record of what you actually did, with the reflection that makes it assessable. Application plan Six to twelve months before · Work backwards from the session you are aiming at, with dependencies visible. CV plan Three months before · Two pages that show progression, responsibility and scale — planned before they are written. Report plan Four to six months before · Structure and word budget before prose, which is far cheaper to change. Appendix schedule Two months before · Keep within the page limits and make sure every item shows what you did. Sponsor tracker Six months before · Keep the sponsor arrangements out of your head and off email. Presentation plan Two months before · Fifteen minutes, planned to time, expanding on an aspect of your report. Mock review record One to two months before · Make practice interviews produce something you can act on. Communication Task reference plan One month before · Plan the two sides of A4 you are permitted, and the structures you will rely on. Result reflection After the review · Turn reviewers' comments into a plan, whichever way the result went. Read the official guidance Toolkit
