The portfolio checklist

It is a declaration, not a formality. Signing it confirms you have complied with the Institution's requirements on layout and on the variety of evidence in your portfolio.

Treat it as the last gate, and use it as the first

The checklist works best used twice.

Early, as a specification. Read it before you assemble anything and let it shape the structure — it tells you what the Institution considers a compliant portfolio, which is more useful before you have built one than after.

At the end, as a gate. Go through it item by item against the finished PDF, and fix what fails rather than signing optimistically. The declaration is yours, and the consequence of a non-compliant portfolio is not a polite request to resubmit: the guidance notes that candidates who submit forms and portfolios that do not comply may not proceed, and that non-compliance reduces the likelihood of success.

Signing

You are signing two things across the submission as a whole: that the portfolio complies with the requirements, and — in the report forms — that the evidence submitted in the portfolio of work is your own. Both are declarations about your conduct, not about your competence, and both sit squarely inside the Code of Conduct.

If any part of the portfolio is not your own work, the answer is to take it out, not to explain it in the interview.
